There are 4 types of hearing loss: Conductive hearing loss, Sensorineural hearing loss, a mixed hearing loss, and central hearing loss. Conductive hearing losses are caused by diseases or obstructions in the outer or middle ear. Sensorineural hearing loss is caused by the damage to the delicate sensory hair cells of the inner ear. A mixed hearing loss refers to a combination of sensorineural hearing loss or conductive hearing loss. A central hearing loss results from damage or impairment to the nerves or the nuclei of the central nervous system. Do you have a hearing loss? What type of hearing loss do you have?
